| A Fond Farewell to Mrs Casey & Mrs Counsell Mrs Casey, our Headteacher, pictured above, right, is retiring this summer after 15 years in charge of the school. Mrs Casey taught for four years in Liverpool before she moved house and taught in Hyndburn Park County Primary School. After her children were born she taught on a part time basis in St Hubert’s and St Wulstan’s schools. She began in St Charles’ School 28 years ago, teaching the Reception Class on a part time basis and then full time, when both her children began school, here in St Charles’. She has taught all of the age groups in the school, taking responsibility for English for many years. She was appointed Deputy Headteacher in 1987 and Headteacher in 1995. Mrs Casey says “I have always been very happy in St Charles School. It has been a privilege to have been the Headteacher and I will miss the children, the staff, parents and governors. However, I will not miss the paperwork, the meetings and the endless changing legislation. I am looking forward to having time to myself to do all the things that I have been putting off over the years. However I have always been very fortunate to have worked with a super staff and a wonderful set of children." The whole school wishes Mrs Casey a Happy Retirement.
Mrs Counsell (above, left) is also retiring at the end of this term. She came to St Charles' on a voluntary basis, helping the Year 5 children, in a temporary classroom, at the time. Mrs Counsell went on to become a Lunchtime Supervisor, taking on cleaning duties, as well as some Teaching Assistant hours. By this time, she was working almost full-time hours. Now working fulltime as Teaching Assistant in Years 5 & 6, she has also worked for the last 5 years in our After School Club, alongside Mrs Goodman. Mrs Counsell says: "It has been a priviledge working with all of the children in St Charles' School. I would like to give a great big 'thankyou' to all of the children, from over the years. I would also like to thank all of the staff fortheir support, friendship and kindness over the years. I am going to miss everyone."
The whole school, including children, staff, parents and Governors would like to wish them both Best Wishes on their Retirements. We will all miss them, very much!
